Mobile Ticketing - Road
Transport - Road
Change is coming to road travel across the world. Swiftpass mobile ticketing technology will be at the forefront of that change - be it in terms of ticketing on public buses, car parking, and even road charging.
Bus & Coach
In the UK alone there are 4.6 billion passenger journeys every year on public buses. A huge number - and in the vast majority of them, each one starts with a cash and paper ticket transaction. Which means the need for a significant amount of cash on each bus or coach and inevitable delays as each passenger finds the correct amount.
In short, this is an inefficient and outdated method of running a mass transit network. More importantly for our bus and coach customers, it could also mean performance penalties for late services, and in the worst case scenario, the loss of franchises from central government or local authorities.
However with Swiftpass mobile tickets, cash is taken out of the transaction - reducing the risk to the driver and reducing delays on the route.
Passengers can purchase their ticket before travel, and have it delivered to their mobile phone even as they wait at the bus-stop. Furthermore, the speed at which Swiftpass mobile tickets are scanned and verified means that embarking and ticket checking on the bus is far quicker and easier for both the passenger and operator.
Swiftpass delivers 1 or 2 dimensional barcoded mobile tickets which are scanned upon entry or verified by alphanumeric pin-codes when visual validation is required. Swiftpass can provide bespoke hardware for scanning on bus or at terminals and can retro-fit scanning technology into existing bus or coach on-board ticketing systems.
Integration between Swiftpass mobile ticketing and legacy ticketing systems means that acquisition can be made via all existing sales channels. As the Swiftpass system tracks all mobile tickets in real-time from dispatch to redemption, bus and coach operators can now gain a true indication of not only how many passengers are on board at any given moment but also who those passengers actually are. Over time, Swiftpass also delivers the means by which to monitor passenger travel habits and behaviour - allowing bus and coach operators to build up a detailed picture of their consumers.
Car parking
Swiftpass allows car park operators to reduce the amount of cash in circulation whilst offering their customers a quick and convenient method of payment. Consumers pre-register their payment details, after which they receive a unique barcode which is used at all participating car parks. When scanning upon entry, the Swiftpass system simply logs the time/date so that when the mobile barcode is scanned at the point of departure, the duration of stay is calculated and the appropriate funds debited from the pre-registered account.
For on-road parking, Swiftpass can provide a range of solutions to suit most environments - whether utilising Swiftpass barcode technology for scanning at pay-and-display kiosks, or through simply logging a stay via text-in or IVR platform. As parking is paid for via a pre-registered account, it is also possible to top-up stays remotely, negating the requirement to return to the meter. Finally, all parking payments are fully itemised on statements, therefore facilitating the expense and tax claim process.
